Pikes Peak

Description
Pikes Peak is the highest summit of the southern Front Range of the Rocky Mountains in North America. The ultra-prominent 14,115-foot fourteener is located in Pike National Forest, 12 miles west of downtown Colorado Springs, Colorado. The town of Manitou Springs lies at its base. Making it through the winter... trying to get a head start on the bulk of this project that will come this spring. So here we have Pikes Peak under a full moon shot from somewhere in Colorado Springs. As every astrophotographer knows, light pollution is the enemy. And with Colorados population explosion comes with it new houses, new buildings and new street lights. Even from the other side of the continental divide you can see a haze of light pollution spilling out of Denver. I knew the pollution around this 14er would be way too strong to get any proper star photos. So, we have the moon. I was really hoping to get this image from garden of the gods but photo pills helped me to see that the moon would line up way too the north of the summit, so we had to travel a good ways south and find a public park to shoot from.... I don't like cities. Photo was taken on my om system cameras om1 and 300f4.
